In today’s world of rap, substance can oftentimes be lost amongst the piles and piles of ignorance that floods the blogosphere on the daily. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my Soulja Boy/50 Cent collab as much as the next hypebeast, but I can literally feel my brain cells committing suicide everytime a new Gucci track comes on. That’s where Wiz Khalifa comes into the picture. The 22 year-old Pittsburgh native is a relatable visionary, constantly finding new ways to rap about the usual subjects. Recently (respectfully) denying Drake’s offer to open up for the Young Money superstar on tour, Wiz is on a journey to creating a powerful name for himself, and it seems that stoners, backpackers, hipsters and haters alike are all along for the ride. I got a chance to sit down with Wiz in his hotel room before his New York show. Check it out.
