Hear Two New DJ Shadow Tracks Live

DJ Shadow has been slowly rolling out new music as part of his Shadowsphere tour. He debut two new cuts at Brooklyn Bowl this week, including what sounds to be an AC/DC sampling banger being called “I Gotta Rock,” (previously captured with worse audio quality) as well as a far more mellow untitled piece featuring some gentle piano and light vocal scratching. Add to these the track “Redeemed” played live over the summer, and the “Def Surrounds Us/I’ve Been Trying” single that was issued last month, and the vision of a full Shadow album, his third since his legendary Endtroducing debut, is starting to take shape.

Most impressive is imagining how a DJ a skilled as Shadow jumps between these two extremes during a set. In this age of monotone party jocks, that itself is a feat.
