The Demon’s Claws ‘The Defrosting Of’ (Review)

The Demon's Claws

The Defrosting Of

Released by In The Red

Whether they meant to or not, Montreal based outfit The Demon’s Claws successfully channel the glory days of good old English rock n roll on their sophomore release The Defrosting Of. Their sound, a pastiched incorporation of influences ranging from The Rolling Stones to The Kinks, is a stark reminder of the lasting impact of  ’The British Invasion’ on just about all North American based rock n roll acts thereafter.

The raspy Jagger-esque vocals of front-man Jeff Clarke are showcased best on the track “Last Time At The Pool”–a bouncy up tempo piece that if created fifty years earlier might have been featured on American Band Stand. Other noteworthy tracks include the infectious and guitar heavy “Laser Beams”, along with the album closer “You’ll Always Be My Friend”–a mid-tempo cut apparently influenced by some of  Americas most cherished blues innovators. With its vintage charm and Grammy nod potential, The Defrosting Of is sure to capture the hearts and ears of  both nostalgic baby-boomers and hip gen-xers alike. The impressive musings of this high energy band are not to be missed.
