Police Shut Down Avalon Hollywood (Video)

Last night, LAPD shut down Hollywood megaclub Avalon during the weekly Control party. Details are still thin, but apparently the club first began denying entrance due to capacity issues before the lights came up an police emptied out the several thousand revelers. Riot police, helicopters and fire were all on site to shut down the entire block of Vine between Hollywood Blvd and Yucca where the club is located. There are no reports of any incidents as the crowd was dispersed.

This shut-down occurs around the same time as a series of nightclub shut downs in New York City. Ironically, this is also the same week that the LA Coliseum, the venue for Electric Daisy Carnival, announced that it would resume bookings of electronic music events following ahighly publicized moratorium on such events.

URB has calls in to representitives of Avalon and Control, as well as the electro band Dada Life who were scheduled to headline last night’s event. We’ll try to keep the information coming.
