The creators of Kingston’s hottest party Brand New Machine, Farenheit and Urchin from Sean Paul’s crew, are bringing the vibes to New York City, for a Brand New (weekly) Machine, kicking off this Thursday, Oct. 7th, at Happy Ending. (The party was supposed to launch last week; however, was postponed due to monsoon like weather in the big apple.) The vibes that made BNM Kingston the place to be is going global, with the New York City edition. DJ Max Glazer (Federation Sound, Rice & Peas), is at the helm as resident DJ. Rest assured he will be serving up d dancehall tunes good and proper, while JDiggz from Toronto will be spinning hip hop, hits & house music.
Happy Ending’s former life was an erotic massage parlor and has been transformed into a club with two floors, each with its own feel. The street level pays homage to the lounge ideal of the days of Frank Sinatra. Set-in red velvet booths offer just the right amount of privacy to engage in a little intimacy, but are public enough to hold court among a downtown crowd. Downstairs kitsch reigns among the original tiling and waist height shower heads, the sauna rooms turned private party coves and the original etched glass swan and naked female mirror. All combine for an intimate, decadent, almost indecent atmosphere that harkens back to a pre-Giuliani New York with a touch of 1960’s Las Vegas. Consistently good music and an over-abundance of sex appeal, combines with special guest DJs passing through each week, make this the perfect spot for a NYC satellite of BNM.
