Every now and then, I run across some hip hop that restores my faith in the art form. A few years back, when I was running my Wake Your Daughter Up blog, I was treated to a submission from a group out of Kansas by the name of Archetype. Their Bleed For Them album quickly became a favorite of mine and is somewhat of a slept on classic in my notebook. Of all the projects, mixtapes, EPs, songs, and just general music I have gotten over the years, I can honestly say that the album is my favorite piece of music ever submitted to me. I think that highly of Bleed For Them.
Well, Dekagon Records has one half of Archetype, the producer, Nezbeat teaming up with Joe Good, who was a guest on Bleed For Them. The duo will release an album, Good Hair, which will be a free download. That is good for those of us that like quality, soulful, hip hop. To prep the masses of the upcoming Good Hair project, the duo have released the first single, a Nezbeat solo track, “Fuschia.” Sometimes there is no need to mess with a good formula if you have it, and that’s what Nezbeats does on this track. Nez flips a melodic beat with flutes, keys and soft vocal samples. “Fuschia” is a perfect soundtrack for the this lazy, end of summer afternoon.
