12 Best Electronic Movie Soundtracks Moments

With the anticipations building for Daft Punk’s upcoming TRON:Legacy soundtrack, URB figured it would be a good time to recall some of our fusions between electronic music and the celluloid arts . In some cases, the movie made songs into hits. In others, the music far outdid it’s cinematic affiliation. In all cases, it made for some of our favorite movie moments.

The Dust Brother- Fight Club

The LA duo behind legendary albums like the Beastie Boys‘ Paul’s Boutique and Beck’s Odelay came out from behind the curtains on this original score for this Brad Pitt/Edward Norton vehicle. But they musically stayed in the shadows, creating a dark and ominous accompaniment to Tyler Durden’s equally bleak world view.

Neglected to mention, or should have included any of the following: Forbidden Planet (1956) wasn’t FP the first movie to feature a synthesized score/soundtrack??, 1984 (1984), Cool World (1992), Hackers (1995), I could think of a few others but anything else others here replied with.

  4. no mention of any Tangerine Dream soundtrack? bizarre.
their 1984 soundtrack, “Firestarter”, lays almost every example in your list to waste.
in short, your focus was way too modern.

  5. Mixtapes says:

This is a great list, but missing Hackers and Rounders, for sure.

You happen to be wrong about Close Encounters, it’s actually an Arp 2500 that produces the sound – not a Moog.

You FAILED not to mention MORTAL KOMBAT, HUMAN TRAFFIC, and GROOVE. And you lose points for mentioning Flash Gordon and Midnight Express.

  9. Tyler S. says:

Great selection… but i would definitely have included HACKERS!

  10. JB says:

I would have to say club foot, from the matrix, And voodoo people, from hackers..thats some iconic shit right thur

ARE YOU KIDDING???? NO MENTION OF DANNY THE DOG WITH MASSIVE ATTACK???? The list is good but could be great.. Another disturbing film would be Event Horizon with the friggin ORBITAL helping with the sound track… I can think of 5 other films that were more significant then a few of these but…
