Björk released the video for her song “The Comet Song” through her website today; which is part of a Finnish Children’s film, Moomins and the Comet Chase. It looks like they used the same technology used in Davey and Goliath. The song itself is dark and haunting because it’s talking about the possible annihilation of the Moomin world. Oddly enough the song symbolizes the pain of the Pakistani people, which have been hit with devastatingly catastrophic floods.
The floods have caused upwards of 800,000 deaths, ruined crops, killed livestock and with such little aid being raised and provided to the country, they face water-borne diseases, starvation and limited amount of search and rescue.
Sales of this song go completely to Unicef Pakistan children’s charities and is one of the very few projects through the Arts that is helping out Pakistan during their time of need. You can purchase “The Comet Song” through iTunes tomorrow and view the video on Björk’s website.
