70-year-old Suicide front man Alan Vega has gotten a lot of attention this summer, mostly due to the sample used on M.I.A.’s controversial “Born Free.” But the embattled rapstress isn’t the only one paying attention to the senior citizen of industrial punk music. Electro femme Peaches will release a limited edition version of the Suicide classic “Jonny” as part of a series of Vega tribute 7-inch records being released by Blast First Petite.
Astonishingly, this is the first time we’ve heard of the project that has already released Vega tributes by The Horrors, Primal Scream, Klaxons, Sunn 0))), Pansonic and BRUCE ‘EFFIN’ SPRINGSTEEN. Future release in the series are planned for Grinderman, Mogwai and Iggy Pop. Clearly the internet hasn’t been paying enough attention. [Clash Music]
