Easily the most anticipated movie soundtrack since, I dunno, Rocky 4?, there’s finally some real music to be heard off of Daft Punk’s TRON: Legacy score. The music is on the official TRON website, so we know it’s legit. But Seattle radio station The End grabbed the files for easier listening.

At a press confrence yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con, director Joseph Kosinski expressed his excitement and satisfaction with the music that Daft Punk composed for TRON: Legacy, the heavily-anticipated 3D sequel to the 1982 Disney film.
“They’re in the studio, as we speak, putting the finishing touches on their score. It’s an incredible blend of electronic music, orchestral music, and really blurs the line between sound design and music in a very interesting way,” said Kosinski. “It’s a new direction for them that they’re really excited about. And it’s so tied to the film, because we developed them together.” The director then recalled his first meeting with the French techno duo over a pancake breakfast at the 101 Diner in Hollywood.
“They discussed their passion for TRON and how serious they took it, and what an inspiration it was to them, which I think is pretty obvious if you’ve been to one of their live shows. We talked about it for a long time and then got started on the music very early. We were doing music before we even started shooting, and they continued working for almost two years on it, said Kosinski. “It’s really just an amazing kind of fusion of music and visual art, and I’m really happy with it.”
TRON: Legacy actress Olivia Wilde found listening to Daft Punk on set really helpful and inspiring. “Over the process of shooting when you need to find tone in the scene, you listen to a Daft track and you really understand where you are in the movie.”
TRON: Legacy opens on December 17th. Check the latest trailer, which premiered yesterday, right here:

It actually sounds a lot like the Mass Effect soundtracks. Those games in turn were aping Bladerunner and Galatica among other influences.
