Every year, the UK music industry takes the time to remind us how much cooler they are. So much cooler that they have their own popular awards show specifically for cool music. So while we spend our time awarding the likes of Jason Mzar, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, the brits are honoring folks like Primal Scream (1992), Roni Size (1997), The Klaxons (2007) and even ultra-outsider Speech Debelle (2009). The 2010 nominees for the Mercury Prize were announced today. Here’s all the potential winners, along with some highly unscientific odds.
Biffy Clyro – Only Revolution (Odds of winning: 1 in 50)

Just like America has alternative rock hasn’t been the alternative to anything in over a decade, so does the UK. Biffy Clyro always go platinum (100,000 sales) in the UK, which kinda makes them the Nickleback or the bunch. But since it’s England, they’re 100x better than Nickleback.
