URBhd presents the first of many video-centric features that will involve all conceivable characters of bass music and culture. Of course, URB had to start it off with a bang, provided by the lovely Mary Anne Hobbs. In this video, Mary Anne goes all about New York City whilst talking about the relationship between NYC and U.K. bass, her Sonar 2010 stage lineup, and indulging herself on a genuine slice of New York gold. We then go on to the nightcap at Mary Ann’s, where the topic turns to dubstep’s past, present and future. With an appearance from Dub War resident Dave Q (and some fantastic margaritas), the chatter ascends towards the interpretation (or misinterpretation) of what dubstep’s current sound is to the world. We end off the brisk night with some recommendations from the BBC Radio 1 DJ, ranging from deep and dark to experimental and engaging.
Special thanks to 151 Studios & HiFiCartel.
