- DJ Shadow talks to URB backstage at Wireless Festival in London, England
There are concerts and then there are those unforgettable concert moments cemented in a small chunk of time shared by thousands of people who are all sure they’ve just experienced something big together. They carry the images and sounds back to their homes and offices in their brains, phones and laptops and share with anyone who will listen: I was there, I was a part of this. All music lovers store away these moments, that “top 5″ we can whip out when things get dull around the bar. This past weekend a moment or two occurred featuring DJ Shadow and about 2,000 people in a circus tent in Hyde Park in London, England, the ticketholders of Wireless Festival the first to hear some of his new music (”I Gotta Rock” + “Redeemed”). And as if that weren’t notable enough, Josh “Shadow” Davis DJed these new tracks from a huge orb in the center of the stage that rotated and displayed Shadow’s trademark video imagery. It was all very “Flight Of The Navigator” for 2010:
This is the first new music we’ve heard from the Bay Area beatmaster and 3-time URB cover star since his 2006 Outsider album so we were excited to sit down with him after the show to discuss the tracks, the Entroducing era, his new mobile app at DJShadow.com and that incredible stage set up in London. After the jump, check out our exclusive video interview and video of new music he debuted, all of it reminding us yet again how much we’d missed seeing him live. He is, after all, a bad (bad!) motherf**king DJ.

Agree with Nate…..
you came across pretty dumb with not knowing lots of things.
THere was not \meat\ in the interview at all.
Yeah youve been doing it for 10 years but not very well….
THat was NOT Engaging at all.
What’s with all the hating?! This is a GREAT interview. Focus on the person being interviewed, not the interviewer. Thank you so much for providing this interview for us, I really enjoyed hearing from DJ Shadow.
Nate – I’ve contributed to URB for 10 years and am a huge Dj Shadow fan. I was off a year in an impromtu interview that I could have edited, but we all make minor mistakes here and there. Sue me. -J
I don’t know if she was a fill in interviewer at the last moment but that person should never interview anyone. She hardly knew anything about him and she did’nt know Endtroducing was released in 96. The album has freaking track called “Why Hip Hop Sucks in 96″. I love URB and the writing. Get somebody better to do an interview with Shadow or at least knows a little more about your mag’s history (i.e NOT knowing he’s a 3 time cover).
