2010’s Best Albums So Far

1. Janelle Monae – The ArchAndroid

ARCHANDROID_COVER

(Bad Boy) Her performances are a mesmerizing, dizzying blur of frenetic footwork and no-nonsense groovin’ and the onstage hyperactivity was a fitting compliment to her fast-paced debut EP Metropolis: The Chase Suite. However, the singer proves she’s more than just a slight girl in throwback threads rallying against conformity on The ArchAndroid. She lures hard-core fans with the vintage thump of the Big Boi-assisted “Tightrope” but she gets all Jefferson Airplane with it on the hazy “Mushrooms and Roses” and wraps up with the darkly seductive, cinematic soul of “BabopbyeYa.” It shows range, growth and lots of promise from a rising game-changer. 4. Jackson Parker says:

The ArchAndroid is a boring album that fizzles and bursts, but never fully explodes. Clearly your ears are damaged if you regard it as a “good album”.

  5. Jonathan says:
