Detroit techno veteran Stacey Pullen delivers this mix of Hi Tek Soul that brings Detroit techno’s classic sound into the 21st Century, with tracks by Loco Dice, The Royal We (Hector, Shaun Reeves, Seth Troxler), Lutzenkirchen and his own new track on Blackflag.

1. The Royal We (Hector, Shaun Reeves, Seth Troxler) / “Party Guilt” (Crosstown Rebels)
This is the perfect intro, I played this at the beginning of my set at the D25 party at WMC and Seth was there. I get a kick out of this track. Hilarious!!

2. Loco Dice / “Definition (Nic Fanciulli Mix)”
(Desolat)
Dice sent this to me, and from what I understand, it’s a exclusive mix from Nic and is a very limited DJ promo. Don’t know if it’s gonna come out. I feel special to have this!!!

3. Nathan Barato / “Close Your Eyes”
(Roots & Wings)
Nathan is one half of The Roaches w/ CarloLio and this track has a raw rolling bass line that works well with an accapela on top. It has shakers for days and it’s a dirty minimal groove.

4. Of Norway “Throned by Icewinds (Stacey Pullen Mix)” (Troll Records)
I was asked to do this mix because I charted this artist in the pass. I like the original and it’s really important for me to like the original because it’s a drag to work on something that I can’t feel.

5. Daniel Frontado “Minimax (Carlo Astuti remix)” (Four Peas Recordings)
This is a swinging latin percussive groove, quite different from other because this synth chords just keep building and building—and ya don’t stop.

6. Tapesh & Maximiljan “Clown” (Suara Showroom Serie 8)
This is a sleeper track that works well regardless of when I’m playing. I usually like to play this to set the tone for a good vibe.

7. Carlo Lio “Let’s get back” (SCI+TEC)
I’ve been a fan of Carlo’s before he blew up the spot. I’ve sent him emails asking him for everything he’s touched even before his SCI+TEC days. He’s from toronto and when I’m not working on some weekends and he’s playing somewhere near, I’ll go and check him out just to say what’s up.

8. Lutzenkirchen “The Music”
(1605)
I like most of Lutzenkirchen’s productions and this has this sample that reminds me of a Teddy Pendergrass vocal riff. It’s funky and it works!

9. Stacey Pullen “Alive (Hi Tek Soul Mix)” (Blackflag)
This is my mix that I did at the last minute to give a different perspective my new release. The bassline is sooo funky and I had to be the first to pay homage to the Hi Tek Soul movement.

10. Rest Robot “The Door” (Soma)
I love the way Reset Robot programs his productions. He uses sound to shape the mix and the way he pulls them back and forth just feels so right. He has a dirty grit type of sound.
