If you have the skills to DJ for raging masses of party people alongside some of the biggest and best electronic acts, this opportunity is for you! URB.com and MixMatchMusic have teamed up for the Camp Bisco 9 Remix Contest. This year will feature four different artists and songs to remixincluding event hosts The Disco Biscuits, omnitempo maximalist Bassnectar, electronica pioneer King Britt and New Zealand soul reggae stars The Black Seeds.
One grand-prize winner will be awarded a one-hour set at this year’s Camp Bisco!
PRIZE PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- 2 passes to the festival with Artist credentials
- A custom MobBase iPhone app and lifetime subscription from MixMatchMusic
- $200 for travel expenses
- Ground transportation from Albany, NY to the festival Site and accommodations during the festival
- A one-hour set in front of thousands of festival goers at Camp Bisco 9!

i got some loser bashin on me just for complaining about the voting system, when the judges proved themselves that the voting system is wack. the winner got 24 votes!! im not sayin that topshottas mix isnt dope, nor am i saying that i shoulda won, but there were definitely way more talented people than us who got way more votes.
note to self… next year dont do a mashup cuz apparently they arent cool, dont get votes, and just make a remix that you think the artist would want to hear. that seems to be criteria

Seriously … no disrespect to any of the winners … but SERIOUSLY?!??! Im not even saying mine was the best … but there definitely was better ones … and why being all sneaky with the results – do you know how hard it was to find this ?!? not even on the main site, or the remix site … WTF?

Ugh – these remix contests sure are annoying
I don’t know about ya’ll I but I think I definitely had the most fun making my remix out of anybody. I didn’t just sit in front of a computer and make a beat. I made the beat, came up with a hook, wrote an entire song (with lyrics), recorded it, went back and added a bridge, added turntable scratches, got my friend to play bass/electric guitar on it and a female vocalist to sing on the chorus – not to mention I performed it live at a venue and got 350 of my friends and family and fans to vote for it. What more do ya’ll want? I guess I should have threw in some laser sounds and some wobbly bass and dubbed it the f**k out, but I figured there would be enough of that at Camp Bisco already. Guess not. Oh well maybe next time.

Not only did the winner of the contest have only 24 votes, the track itself is stretched thin of creativity and lacks any appeal for a winning choice over the most amazing flips of this contest I’ve ever heard. i will say im kinda pissed that i spent more time messagiing people on soundcloud and facebook than i did actually making the remix, and the whole voting is just flawed anyway. i busted my ass gettin djs and producers from all over the world voting for me while some people just logged onto every computer they saw. 125 votes is decent for just asking everyone to vote once, im not gonna bother everyone til they hate me, but it is nothing compared to some of the numbers up there. u should probably fix this wierd voting system…

you have a point, idk why u gotta be a dick about it tho, unless you are one of the website programmers whom i offended. i supposed i am somewhat influenced by girl talk, but really im just learning how to make cool sounds on top of songs that i like in the past so that i can put what i learned into some original tracks. ive been doing this not even 2 years tho so back off your really not putting a good vibe towards this festival with that sort of talk

everyone thinks for voting i cant believe my remix was moving from 1 to 8 when i only worked on the song for two days i just heard about the contest too late but big ups to everyone that entered everyone did great!!!

thanks for giving everyone the opportunity to play at Camp Bisco. There were a lot of great remix’s. I agree with most of the other people that the voting was a little off and was probably the wrong way to go. For all of you that cheated with their voting, shame on you. For all those who suggested that we cheated, maybe you dont understand the power of good friends and lot’s of promoting. We worked our ass’s off these past weeks and Im sure this contest is full of people who did as well. Good luck to everyone. Im sure whoever is chosen will do a fantastic job at Camp. I will see you there, REGARDLESS.

Thought everyong should be aware why there are two PsychoLogiX tracks posted..
The first one i posted “crazy prog-goa” contains a glitch that which sounds like an alien squeal. The intro as well had an echo-glitch on the vocal sample. I tried to the track removed but was not given an option to do so i took the liberty of posting a second track. I would not have done so if i did not think there was a great difference. All to his own opinion, if you listen to the closing sequence of both tracks, there is a major difference.

I always enjoy the feedback. My remix came out like it did because of the many supporting friends and fans i have throwing in their ideas into my mind. This track was made with the crowd already getting all they want in a simple 6 minute track. Feedback is the best part of making music I respond to all if not most of my emails. For epic and melodic creativity. I predict psychologix to be the winner. The song was transitioning beginning to end end the internsities are never overdone and just force you to throw your hands up especially in the closing minutes of the remix. The vocal remixing was excellent!
Erothyme remix is awesome. the chorus was a bit much but the chops were indeedsick. I dont call it a winner but for sure an amazing track. I downloaded the free album on the site. Music is awesome
Overall i see it being hard to determine the winner of the Bassnectar track. So many great hard tracks up there. It stole the spotlight from the other song picks. Psychologix was hard. For petes sake. Progressive-Goa trance is up there on my winning selections. Psy Psy Psy
The contest seems to be dying down so I’m going to make some predictions:
On Time = Psylogic because he got a groove I’m really feeling – easy to dance too and it sucked me right into dance mode..help I can’t stop moving….
Slingshot = Every Shadow because his mix was cleary one of the most professional remixes how he worked the original vocal and added all new music plus after looking at his credentials I can see why he rocks.
Frenzy = Erothyme because I like the chops and composition in the beginning and the song sounds and feels good. Very professionally done and def one of my favorites
Intricate Beauty – Lighting eyez because he has got a little of everything in his mix and entered every contest – genius
My Prediction for the win is either Erothyme or Every Shadow..

what ever happened to just having a dope remix? instead of going for the most precise/technological type of corny giltching and phrasing and shit? it doesnt need to be about whos the best midi nerd computer programmer

I completely disagree. You are trash talking an artist who uses a paint brush and favoring a palette knife. If a musician creates something from favored nerdism then dont criticize them for who you want them to be. Criticize them for who they are.
i feel u but what im trying to say is dont overlook the other remixes just because their not super cutting edge sounding, (dubstep wasn’t that way to begin with anyway)
