“Before you, my whole life was acapella / Now our symphony’s the only song to sing.” I read an interview with Kelis on VIBE.com a minute ago where she spoke about this song, her new album, and where she currently was in life. Kelis’ upcoming album, due out this June, is set to be an uptempo compilation of pulsating grooves and eccentric positive vibes – not quite what you’d expect after her divorce from Nas, right? But Kelis said to VIBE some months back:
“I think [fans are] expecting an angry record. And I’m not angry. I’m actually curious to see how this goes over. People like angry records, they like the scorned women. But I’m not, and I don’t feel that way. And I didn’t feel that way when I was recording. The mood that I was in was so robust and full of life and new horizons. I hope people get that.”
In her new video, Kelis stays true to the roots of the concept of her new album, dominating the screen as a strong and fierce tribal goddess of nature. Check out the video above, and be on the lookout for Flesh Tone dropping on June 22, 2010.
