Freddie Gibbs – “The Ghetto” (Clean) (MP3)

It’d be cliché to say Gangsta Gibbs  has “a way with words.” Instead I’ll actually try to be a responsible (freelance) writer and explain why you should give Freddie’s latest a spin. In “The Ghetto” Freddie painted quite a vivid picture of the harsh living conditions of Gary, Indiana: his hometown. This track exhibits many of the reasons why Gibbs manages to grab my ear ever since TSS put me on to his music. His impressive flow, lucent  lyrics and signature delivery carry the conviction that many of his peers lack; especially when talking about issues such as poverty and gang violence.

Gibbs is at his best when he tackles such topics from the observer’s viewpoint. He’s quite exceptional at picking apart everything wrong with the situation at hand and defiantly shoves it in your face. You want to turn a blind eye to it all but the words compel you to take a peak into a world most keep at arms reach.

For all I know he may not have lived out everything he talks about in his rhymes. Even if that was the case I wouldn’t be too upset about it as the “keepin’ it real” movement tapered off years ago. Anyway tracks like this seem like sincere efforts on his part and I can’t fault him for that. As a quick sidenote he gets bonus points for doing justice to the “Keep it Real” instrumental. Here’s hoping Str8 Killa No Filla, his upcoming mixtape, has more material similar to what’s offered here.

  1. According to my investigation, billions of people all over the world receive the credit loans at well known creditors. Therefore, there is a good possibility to find a term loan in every country.

  2. Download mp3s…
