Cubic Zironia Tour Day 4: Oklahoma City

No Tags
I’m back on schedule with the posts, gets hard out in these streets sometimes.
We pulled in Oklahoma City’s art district early evening to meet our host Joshua Distance. Josh was waiting on us at Sauced, a chilled-out bohemian pizza and coffee cafe with a garage style art venue attached. It sounds goofy, but it felt great.
Nick, Daoud and Justin dragged in gear and Mr. Distance took me to his aunt’s house to use the internet (I still hadn’t posted on our St. Louis). She was kicking it watching shit cable movies on USA and making jewelry, a seemingly recurring theme on this tour – jewelry. She was killing it.
We made it back to the venue around the corner, where the neighbors and party kids were waiting for a show. A couple of local bands played and we went in on some pizza, tea, wine and microbrews.
I worked on a new flyer for the SXSW shows while they setup and took the stage. I could hear a small group of people across the patio cheer and sent a few of the kids in the coffee shop over to check out the show. When I finished, I jumped in and they were killing it. Tiombe was hitting notes further out of range than any stop on tour and Justin broke out of the pocket, pounding the fills without missing a beat.
Following the Cubic Zirconia set, Jabbee took the stage. Jabbee is a young dude, a local MC with a gauge of what works. Clearly another unearthed midwest talents, he hopped on the short stage comfortable and complex, but fun as hell. We had to get some quick face time on the Flip cam…

Aftethe show, we bounced over to our buddy ________ house, he’s got a fashion show tomorrow and two of the coolest dogs in Oklahoma, Samuel L. and Bruce Wayne. Now I’m wrapping this up sititng in an old leather grandfather chair and Tiombe ran off with the air-matress.
Ahhh, life on the road.
Today will be our first day without a show, we’re heading straight for Austin. Check out that flyer, it’s going to be a party…
