Chilean Earthquake Benefit Album “Fuerza Chile”

No Tags

Imagine being at a party and the ceiling caved in where you had been spinning only moments before. That is precisely what happened to DJ Bitman when Chile was hit with the massive 8.8 quake on February 27th. Ana Tijoux — a name which might not ring a bell but her old school production and her right on rhymes will strike a note — was about to hit the stage when she realized the ground’s shaking was more than just an excited crowd. The stories certainly don’t stop there, and the political climate in Chile has only made the already difficult situation more contentious. One thing can be agreed: rebuilding and relief efforts will not be cheap. Fuerza Chile, at $5.99, is a steal and all sales are going to relief charities. The tunes are a formidable roundup of Chilean and other Latin American artists — also, it’s a good introduction to non-cumbia, non-reggaeton grooves. Below is a taste of “Curb” live and you can purchase the album on iTunes.
