LA Weekly has an interview with the always interesting RZA about the recently released painting by the Art Imitates Life crew. The painting takes the classic images of Washington crossing the Delaware and inserts RZA, along with GZA and ODB, into the historical scene. We we amused with the painting, but we were also pretty sure we’d seen something like it before…

We’re not mad that this new painting is clearly a variation on URB’s 2007 issue cover that featured Wu-Tang as Revolutionary War patriots illustrated by Tomer Hanuka. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all. And it also gives us a chance to re-read Brandon Perkins award-winning Wu-Tang article from the same issue. Read it here.
