A visual celebration of the D.I.Y. spirit and aesthetic in contemporary music, this exhibit features the bands These Are Powers, Dark Meat, Pre, Blowfly, DMBQ, Screaming Females, Miss Pussycat, White Mice, Spank Rock, Dan Deacon, Juiceboxxx, the Mae Shi and the Death Set.

Rebecca Smeyne is an award-winning documentary photographer who contributes frequently to the Village Voice and Spin and has also worked with Vice and Anthem. See more work and see our photo gallery with a preview of the installation.

Other Music is a downtown NYC music shop specializing in underground and experimental CDs, LPs, imports, out-of-print rarities and magazines. It also doubles as a venue, and boasts recent live performances by Vampire Weekend, Major Lazer, the Black Lips and No Age.
