Here’s one that’s surely gonna be a treat.
“Window Seat” is the essence of classic and fundamental Badu. The official first single from New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh is velvety and melodic, perfectly framing Erykah’s timeless vocals, nodding to past projects such as Mama’s Gun, and blending it all together to produce a sound that’s both fresh and organic. Lavish in its soulful glory, its live instrumentation is lush and possesses musical qualities that will not only touch spirits, but have them grooving as well. Can I also get a window seat?

It ain’t for everybody. Loved part 1 and can’t wait for the ankh.
Eryka Badu played at Jazz Fest in Jamaica and she was totally boring and condescending to the Jamaican audience. She stayed wedged between two useless laptops that she occasionally tapped on like a kid playing with a Casio. She did not engage the audience, dance, or even move from her spot. She didn’t sing any recognizable hits the audience were expecting to hear. She droned on for almost 2 hours. Her band consisted of many extraneous members that took up the stage but did very little. She wore a top hat over a do-rag and was encased in vinyl/plastic clothing from head to foot. One of her ubiquitous, absurdly fake afros, and a Bob Marley t-shirt and jeans would probably have been a better look that her Lady Gaga imitation. Sometimes, pretentious bullsh-t, is just pretentious bullsh-t, no matter how famous you’ve become. And she looks like a strung out junkie the photo above. #Fail.
