This is the first mix CD from dubstep pioneer Scuba, aka Hotflush label curator Paul Rose. The mix is based on the successful SUB:STANCE parties at Berlin’s club Berhain. Originally from London, he’s been pushing dubstep in Berlin, and with this mix he showcases the vitality of UK bass music. 24 tracks cover the full spectrum of the burgeoning dupstep scene. From moody ambient, to jungle breaks, 2-step and rave.

It starts of with the extremely atmospheric track “Paper Street” by the artist Airhead. It builds up with exclusive unreleased material from stars like Untold, Ramadanman and Joker, and Scuba himself contributes with four tracks. One of the best tracks from last year, Joy Orbison’s “Hyph Mngo,” is sets a fast paced standard halfway through the mix.

This mix is so heavy and deep, it deserves to be played on a big system. And unlike grime and 2-step mixes from the past, this is quality that will stand the test of time.
