URB: Do you have a favorite SAM strip?
TT: I like all of the strips but a few stand out like the one where SAM was yelling “FUCK GOD!” right after 9/11. Or where I asked readers to tell me if I should keep the name Secret Asian Man or change it to just SAM in order to not alienate people and possible get wider acceptance. I’ll give you one guess what they said. I also like the one where some dumb ass goes up to a man from Bangladesh and gives him a Native American “Woo woo woo!” Good times.
URB: Are there any plans for a tour?
TT: Expect east coast appearances in Boston and New York. I’m working out details for a show/signing/talk at the Japanese American National Museum in San Francisco in the summer. I’d like to tie in other appearances while out there and probably will hit the comic convention circuit for some of the bigger shows.
URB: Any last thoughts?
TT: There are clearly a lot of people out there who think it’s fine to diss on Asians and make fun of our accents and tell chong chong, kung-fu, little dick, food delivery jokes. Some of these people are unfortunately in positions where they can spew their ignorance on many other people, which spread the stupidity. These people are all assholes and have the impression that Asians will just get huffy and turn the other cheek. I invite these people to mess with me. Please.
