I wouldn’t have guessed that it’d be an IMAX 3-D + a silent film from 1928 that would instantly emerge as can’t miss films for me @ SXSW Film Festival 2010, but after having a spaceship land in my lap during a preview of Hubble 3-D — in a moment that was as great as the scenes that followed when Avatar started — I will be front and center tripping balls (I’m kidding, of course) during the screening of NASA: (and I don’t mean the horribly overrated music project) Hubble 3-D. It’s another big premiere for SXSW which introduced The Hurt Locker to the world. I’m also extra-curious about Carl Theodor Dreyer’s 1928 silent The Passion of Joan of Arc, which seems to be getting a resurrection in more places than Texas — Will from Goldfrapp told me (that on-camera interview will be up next week) that he’s doing a live scoring of the film with Adrian of Portishead (who’s just become a Dad for the second time — congratulations!) in Paris, France — not Paris, Texas.
“The Hubble space telescope allows us to go to places so far away that it’s inconceivable that humans will ever go there.” – from the film
At YT where this clip was posted, somebody posted this quote from the trial of Jean D’Arc:
“Truly if you were to tear me limb from limb, and separate soul from body, I will tell you nothing more; and, if I were to say anything else, I should always afterwards declare that you made me say it by force.”
This is a xenon short-arc lamp — it makes IMAX special

This is Jean D’arc’s actual tag — she wrote “Jehane”. This John Hancock is one of three known signatures
