The Heavy Sound, a music collective consisting of world-class artists, celebrity DJs and musicians, presents a night of music to raise awareness of diabetes. Actor Michael Rapaport, who is currently directing a documentary about A Tribe Called Quest, will host the event alongside Malik Isaac Taylor, better known as Phife Dawg (from ATCQ). As a diabetic, Phife recently received a long-awaited kidney transplant and this event will mark his first appearance in New York City since his surgery.
An amazing lineup will take to the stage for special performances including Ghostface Killah, Jay Electronica, Consequence, Talib Kweli and more. DJ D-Lyfe, is set to DJ throughout the evening. Expect surprise cameo appearances both onstage and in the DJ booth.
Various diabetic support organizations will be on-site to raise awareness about the disease, and donations are highly encouraged. For more info on diabetes, please visit www.diabetes.org and www.dlife.com.

There are 24 million of us diabetics in the US and I don’t see anyone missing such a benefit. food for thought.
