Probably the best thing about being a famous musician is that breaking the law can actually improve your public profile. Ever since Jim Morrison allegedly let his willy out in Miami, artist have seen their notoriety escalate once the men in blue try to put them down. Call it Chris Brown syndrome if you like. Just ask Lil Wayne.
So perhaps Buju Banton was a wee bit disappointed when his arrest on cocaine charges in Florida just before the holidays failed to ignite a firestorm of coverage (sorry, we were out shopping). Maybe that’s why this morning Baton’s people sent out a press release announcing that Baton has hired “Super Lawyer” David Oscar Markus to represent the performer.
“He was set up from the jump by some evil people trying to take advantage of his trusting and honest character.” declares Markus in the press release.
The press release is also eager to point out that Baton’s album sales have increased since the arrest before going on to mention the new video for “Optimistic Soul” will be coming soon.
Good thing for Banton that hubris isn’t a federal crime. Or maybe he’s sell more records if it was.

Eeeediot. You must’ve been out shopping! This story was everywhere when it broke. Nevertheless, do you really think Buju banton was concerned about album sales or media coverage when he got arrested? You’re a real card. And next time do a grammar and spell check before you post. And while you’re at it, check your arrogant self before you wreck yourself, dude. You’re giving Urb magazine a bad name.
