Song of the Year - MAJOR LAZER “PON DE FLOOR”

Further proof that when it comes to dance floor devestation, less is always more. Diplo and Switch worked with almost nothing but a striped down dancehall beat and a single note alarm for the melody. The result was pure adrenalin whenever or wherever the song was dropped.
Runner Up 1 – DRAKE “BEST I EVER HAD”
With an album coming in 2010, we hope the title doesn’t ring true. But if this really is the best newcomer Drake can do, then it was more than enough for most voters.
Runner Up 2 – DAVID GUETTA ft. KELLY ROWLAND “WHEN LOVE TAKES OVER”
When not collecting Grammy nominations with the Black Eyed Peas, french superstar Guetta was crafting his own hits with Destiny’s Child chanteuse Rowland, bringing big room house music to the mainstream.

URB obviously does not have the fully knowledged readers to make this poll relevant. KID CUDI, no. Raekwon no also. Deadmau5, no. The only relevant winner that was listed was Major Lazer. I have much respect for all the artist, events, promoters etc listed but C’mon. How is any live event bigger then Lalapalooza? Where is Beatport on the download site. I know that you cannot please everyone but this seems more like a popularity contest then who should have actually won each category. Where is Kanye when you really need him to jump on the stage?

Kid Cudi did not live up to the hype of the mixtape that put him on the map. I hope the same thing doesn’t happen to Drake. Raekwon got robbed. Cuban Linx II is the best rap album of the past few years. Mos Def also got shuffled under the rug too quickly by Urb readers.
