Did somebody die? Sure seems like it by the looks of the newest video from Jay. This treatment is ill-suited for the song, and instead of a celebratory tone, it focuses on the more doleful notes of the original song (”Forever Young”) and not Jay’s words of chilled champagne and lovely ladies. This should have been a most triumphant video, but it’s a dud. Honestly, Mr. Carter does not need to try this hard. Sound of the City makes an astute point, saying the video is like a “documentary Jay had made on the subject of kids these days, with Mr. Hudson playing the part of the Morgan Freeman-like benevolent narrator.” Ha ha. Get Morgan Freeman on the phone–there’s a man living forever.
