I played Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” in groups of six, saw Wilco back-to-back at The Wiltern, put my right-hand high with Kid Sister, blew a kiss to Ben Gibbard as Hollywood Bowl exploded with fireworks, chilled with A Place to Bury Strangers, worked-out to Miike Snow, beatboxed with Matis, moved to Silver Lake, boogied down at Nightmares on Wax, took my clothes off at Phoenix, sang with Glen Hansard, cried to Ray LaMontagne, was born again at Iron & Wine, blasted The Raveonettes, flirted with The XX, learned my Manners, yelled “Fuego, fuego,” got swept away in a Middle Cyclone, fell in love with Dave Longstreth, tried to say the words “I And Love And You,” ended up saying “This is for the white in your eyes,” changed my tune to Amazing Baby, argued in favor of Veckatimest, turned on to FlyingLo, cruised down Ambivalence Avenue, kicked it with Little Boots, joined URB, got Kinky, avoided Gaga, attempted HARD, was blinded by Mandy’s rock, planted roots in Nueva America and jived to “Sueno Erotico,” partied on a boat, partied on a plane, peeked new Hot Chip, blasted “Zero” till the house shook, wondered Why? (Eskimo Snow or One Eskimo), swooned over Brandi Carlile at Largo, caught some Wavves with “My Girls” and DJ Bitman, was reminded where the light is, celebrated my birthday with Local Natives, loved Little Dragon, relived my youth at Third Eye Blind, discovered hometown natives Nightriders, caught up with Curumin, got me some HEALTH, ran away from Edward Sharpe, big love to Jim James and M. Ward, learned Telepathe, stepped up my game with Joy Orbison, saw Fool’s Gold in a graveyard, realized “Dying is Fine,” got saucy with Zizek’s electro-cumbia, cursed being 20 years too late at Sonic Youth, did a 1-2 step with Falty, grabbed mixtapes from Lupe to Fashawn to Wale to Mary Anne Hobbs, and I’m counting down to 2010 with Q-Tip and Dam-Funk. Whatcha say about that?
