As virtually the last entity making a go at selling legitimate mix-sets, Fabric’s monthly CD series has become the one stop for encapsulating an entire decade’s worth of electronic music.  Since it’s launch in 2001, Fabric has released 98 mix CDs—the final one of the decade being a set by Buraka Som Sistema. Here’s the ten Fabric mixes that best cover the oughties, in no set order.:

Jacque Lu Cont Fabric Live

(released Apr. 2003) It’s easy to forget how the first half of the decade was significantly marked by electroclash’s rebellion against the more stoic forms of ’90s dance. Fabric never went there, but this mix by part-time Madonna wingman Stuart Price set the stage for the eclectic electro-disco tinged dance sets that became the norm this decade.
