The ‘70s was a weird time for jazz, funk and soul. The endless combinations of the genres didn’t always work out. And even the experiments that were successful, when examined today, sound of a specific time and place.
Hannibal worked it on out as a sideman for a the most part, but released a few discs as a date leader. “Winds of Change” has its place in the canon – even some of the lesser vocalized moments can’t take away from the rest of the track.
