What a long strange trip it’s been. From Y2K to 9/11 to H1Ni, the past decade as often felt like a step into the abyss rather than a leap into the future. Tricky talked about Pre-Millennial Tension, but that was nothing compared to what came after the clock flipped to “00.” Thank goodness for the music, because even as it felt like our society was crumbling, there was more than enough good tunes and good times to help keep the faith.

The following list was assembled by a cabal of URB contributors and confidants—writers, DJs, publicists, label heads, fashionistas and more. It in no way covers all of the greatest musical moments of the past ten years, but we think it represents a good consensus. And of course, we left room for you to tell us  your favorite Artist, Album, Song and Label.

This survey will stay live until Dec 24., and we’ll announce the results sometime between Xmas and New Years eve.

Have fun scoring some of the best music we’ve ever head from any decade. And take a moment to reflect on the past decade—the good and the bad. We have no doubt the music will help jog your memory.
