Gorillaz Next Album To Feature Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, Mos Def

Stereogum

Two years ago Damon Albarn told NME that Gorillaz wouldn’t make any more pop records. But you know better than to take Damon’s word on the future of his endeavors. In a recent interview with the Guardian he says his cartoon band’s next LP has a title (Plastic Beach, because “the idea that plastic, we see it as being against nature but it’s come out of nature. We didn’t create plastic, nature created plastic.”) is “going really well.” He also confirmed a bunch of other details, like the guest list (Lou Reed, Mos Def, Barry Gibb, and Bobby Womack), and that it features seagulls, and that not only is it a pop record, but it’s the “most pop record he has ever made.” OK! Additionally Albarn is working on a Royal Opera House-commissioned “proper” opera with Alan Moore (Watchmen), and a trio project with Flea and Tony Allen (last seen with Damon on The Good, The Band & The Queen).
