URB: You’ve achieved a bass touch that few producers doing electro and dance-rock at this moment have trodden. When did you resolve this would happen? The dancefloors needed it!
GRUM: Ha ha, I think it’s just a reaction to the mainstream noisy stuff that’s getting the plays in the big clubs right now.  I think people are enjoying more uplifting sounds and also hearing space in mixes again…real dancing music.

URB: Where do you see the music industry going, as far as the DJ’s role is concerned?
GRUM: DJs playing at club nights has been the staple formula for dance events since the beginning really, so I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Of course, things will change slightly as new technology comes in, and some people are bringing in visuals for DJ shows…but in essence it’s still just some guy (or girl) dropping tunes!

URB: Which acts are you feeling at the moment that we should know about?
GRUM: Classixx have been on fire recently with their remixes – loving them. I think Russ Chimes is also a name to watch. He’s been a bit quiet recently but has got some massive stuff coming. I think the LA based Binary label is another one to watch, as they are pioneering quite a unique sound.

URB: What do you have coming down the pipeline?
GRUM: I just finished a remix for Lady Gaga, which I’m really excited about. The original was a big, brash, Euro-dance style tune, so I really tried to strip it back and came up with quite a sweet electropop thing. My album is nearing completion too, and is just in the last stages of mixing. It should be dropping sometime early next year!
