Modeselektor North American Foodie Diary

Fresh off the Body Language Tour to celebrate the release of the Body Language 8 compilation (via Get Physical), Modeselektor kept a dairy of his grub on the road.:

Day 1:
Berlin – Frankfurt- Denver//TXL-FRA-DEN
Berlin:
Cappuccino and a croissant

Frankfurt:
Wiener Würstchen and espresso

On-board:
Canard [duck] leg with potatoes and red cabbage

Denver:
Bacon burger with french fries

Day 2:
Denver:
1st breakfast at the hotel: scrambled eggs with bacon and toast, and 2 cappuccinos
2nd breakfast downtown with Beatport: green salad with tip of tenderloin and 1 ginger ale

Soundcheck blue bird: 1 beer and salsa and chips

Dinner with Beatport: Italian pasta, Tiramisu, cabernet sauvignon, double espresso

Backstage: chips, beer, and chocolate

Day 3:

Airport Denver//DEN:
Panini with Italian salami and cheese and a cappuccino

Stopover in Dallas/Fort Worth:
horrible tuna sandwich

Arrival in Leon/Guanajuato, Mexico//BJX:
beer, water, and black coffee

Soundcheck: Mexican Coca Cola

Dinner: Finest Mexican foods like tacos, guacamole, amazing green soup, blonde beer at Cafe Cortado, open air setting

Day 4:
Direct flight to LAX:

On-board:
Mexicana: amazing board meal!! something like paper?

Airport LAX: coffee to go

LAX hotel: “the standard” classic cheeseburger with fries, sparkling water, chocolate from the minibar, and beer

Day 5:
8 am departure from LAX
Cappuccino as breakfast only
5 hours of waiting (wrong flight :-( )

LAX/Tom Bradley INTL Terminal:
breakfast of the week—omelet!! FAT!! Non-iced Pepsi cola regular

Terminal 1: coffee at Starbucks

Stopover in Phoenix Skyharbour//PHX:
Cinnamon sticks—sweet

Flight to El Paso//ELP:
On-board:  ginger ale and tomato juice—”spicy”

El Paso:
Soundcheck: quarter Pepsi cola

In the hotel:
delivered enchiladas (fast food, but excellent)

Show: 4 beers

After show: 5 beers

Day 6:
El Paso Airport//ELP:
Starbucks cappuccino, bad croissant

Stopover in Dallas/Fort Worth:
horrible tuna sandwich (again)

Flight to Guadalajara, Mexico//GDL
On-board:
ginger ale and still water

Hilton in Guadalajara: coffee, served by charmingly dressed personnel

Soundcheck: beer

Dinner: enchiladas with chocolate mole!!! great!!! Beer Bohemia

Show: 2 classic margaritas in a plastic glass, 1 package Lucky Strike

After-show: 7x mixture of Red Bull/tequila/Jägermeister on ice and special spider cookies

Day 7:
Breakfast on room 1609: lamb filet with potatoes and vegetables, coffee, still water, crème brulée

Trip to Lago Chapala:
Lunch: Mexican dorado and 20 bottles of beer (each bottle had 150ml of beer)

Trip with a motorboat across the lake:
10x of these or those tiny beers we took from the restaurant

Day 8:
Guadalajara Airport//GDL:
Breakfast: black coffee with Mexican cookies

Direct flight to Chicago O’Hare//ORD:
On-board meal: Mexicana hot –something like Mexican enchiladas, still water, 4 hours of sleep

Chicago O’Hare//ORD:
1 coffee, 2 cigarettes

Flight to Toronto//YYZ

Dinner at the Hotel Gladhouse: very nice pasta and moules [mussels] and frites, red wine from Ontario!! was good

Soundcheck: beer

Backstage: vodka-Red Bull in backstage

During show: beer and water

After show: vodka and water with Igor (mix hell)

Day 9:
Airport in Toronto//YYZ
Breakfast: coffee and croissant

Flight to Washington-Dulles:
Crab soup at Dulles, coffee while 2 hours waiting for some luggage

Soundcheck: water

Backstage: reeaally good toasted sandwiches, beer, coffee, and water

Show: beer and water

Day 10:
Breakfast in hotel: croissant and  ”house coffee” for $8!!!

Ronald Reagan Airport//DCA:
Real breakfast: little roasted wrap rolls with vegetables and orange juice

Flight to Chicago O’Hare//ORD:
Water and tomato juice no ice

Venue in Chicago:
Backstage: beer, coffee, hummus and pita bread, more coffee

Hard Rock Hotel Chicago:
Dinner at the hotel restaurant “China Grill”—really, really nice five course

Chicago Social Magazine Says:

Modeselektor Says:

In front of the Hard Rock lobby:
Excellent breakfast coffee and some fruit, like bananas and apples (pink lady)

At Chicago O’Hare Airport//ORD:
2 cigarettes

Flight to NYC//LGA

LGA Airport:
Coffee

Venue in NYC:
water

Dinner: very good Italian: plate with cheese and salami, wild boar ragout with penne, red wine from Montepulciano, and a double espresso

All night: beer, vodka and water

Day 12:
Typical Williamsburg organic breakfast: coffee, wrap, salad, and smoothie in the sun

Flight back from NYC-Frankfurt-Berlin//JFK-FRA-TXL
On-board:
Lufthansa menu
