Friday night, Brooklyn’s finest noise-rockers pulverized Angelenos into submission. I got much more than what I bargained for.

I met up with lead singer and guitarist, Oliver Ackerman, at the venue to interview him before show time. First, there were no publicists and managers with their vigilant eyes and buzzing Blackberry on-hand, shepherding us about. We got comfortable on the smoking deck; sure hipsters approached Ackerman, and he signed autographs, made jokes, introduced his band mates, took press photos and was in an amiable mood the whole time. He seemed very psyched to be in L.A. and enjoying the tour.

He said being on the road is like being on vacation.
