Calvin Harris
Ready For The Weekend
If you aren’t aware of Calvin Harris, you might just mistake Ready For The Weekend as a compilation of various producers & artists. If you are aware of Harris, then you probably aren’t surprised at the variety of different sounds and voices on Weekend. In fact, you might be expecting them. Harris, a Scottish singer-songwriter and producer, has never been one to shy away from anything, and he makes that clear with Weekend , a dizzying synth- explosion that could very well tell the story of the average Saturday & Sunday for hard-partying, confused youth. Harris isn’t afraid to take risks, and in doing so he has created one of the more innovative electronic albums of the year.
Weekend has just about everything, whether it’s a club banger (”Dance Wiv Me” featuring an on-point appearance from Dizzee Rascall), a break-up track (”Worst Day) or a disco-heavy cut with a little bit of Prince-influenced vocals thrown in for good measure (”Yeah Yeah Yeah La La La). From the preparation to the club to the dreaded hangover, Weekend takes you all over and in between, and is sure to leave you asking for more.
