MTV is back with its “Hottest MCs In The Game” series, an annual look at what’s going on in hip hop at the current moment in time, and who’s bringing it the hardest. The network explains its criteria for making the list (lyrics, flow, buzz, impact, sells, and “intangibles”), and reveals that eight members of the MTV News “Hip-Hop Brian Trust” sit down and decide the key MCs who have been moving and shaking things in music in the past year. Apparently, fans got some sort of voice this time around, voting online and sharing their own lists in the comments section–which Sway then added to the discussions in making the lineup. It’s hard to know what to make of these lists sometimes–like, 50 Cent…really?
