Noisettes
Wild Young Hearts
Wild Young Hearts is a great example of how Noisettes have matured as a band since the 2007 release of their debut, What’s the Time Mr. Wolf. Although Wild Young Hearts overall has a ’60s pop influence, each of the songs have subtle differences that ultimately set them apart. This album is consistent and the tone of the lyrics go hand in hand with each song’s sound. “Wild Young Hearts” is quick and upbeat musically, while maintaining an innocent, youthful overall feel. “24 Hours” is slower with echoey musical tones to support the lost and aching sentiments in the lyrics. Even though the album is about heartbreak and the cycle of relationships, their music still has a certain optimism.
Although this album took a while to win me over, tracks like “Saturday Night” and “Beat of My Heart” were reminiscent of their older work and made the transition between albums easier. Noisettes have stepped outside their comfort zone and into new musical territory. As a result, they have produced an album that accurately reflects their energy and personality.
