The year 2009 signified a very important year for free love everywhere – it was the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock Music & Art Fair, an “Aquarian Explosion” that took place from August 15th to August 18th, 1969 in Bethel, NY. Approximately 500,000 concert goers went wild to the 32 or so acts that performed. The event has gone down in history as a pivotal point in music culture and is revered as one of those “you had to be there” experiences.
To celebrate, Sir Ivan, aka Peaceman – an electronic music producer who has collaborated with a veritable Who’s Who in dance; and founder of the Peaceman Foundation – hosted a celebration at his Hamptons estate: a sprawling, 15,000-square-foot, medieval-style castle. The event, which cost several hundred dollars to attend, would benefit Sir Ivan’s Peaceman Foundation, which raises awareness about the prevention of hate crimes, helps the LGBT cause and also offers assistance to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) sufferers, which also assists veterans of war. It was also an opportunity for Sir Ivan to showcase his latest musical endeavor, a remake of “Kumbayah.”
