When SMOG first started in the summer of 2006, the Los Angeles dubstep event took place at a hole-in-the-wall Irish pub downtown with no more than 100 heads in attendance. Local DJs were just experimenting with the genre that was first born in London near the start of the decade, and promoters still didn’t really know how to endorse it.
