Jill Newman produced yet another ecstatic event. Despite the cold drizzeling rain and the muddy sand, the beach at Governor’s Island, off the coast of lower Manhattan, was packed with patrons who commuted on water taxis to see Mos Def perform. The Zephyr boat hosted a private open bar party for Mos and a few select VIP patrons who paid $150 for the privilege of commuting with him to the former US-military-controlled island. The commute took the scenic route around the harbor, including a lovely 45 minute tour of the Manhattan and New Jersey coastlines where the Statue of Liberty was in full effect.
