Fashawn
Boy Meets World
Twenty-year-old Fashawn resides from the streets of Central California. California alone is the birthplace of well known emcees that have graciously left their mark in the Hip Hop world. But Fashawn is proving that his caliber of creativity and lyricism is a force to be reckoned with. He proudly lays his life stories at our feet to produce pictures of the less than heartwarming life that he lived. From a drug abusing mother, to an incarcerated father and living in a foster home, these are the hardships that Fashawn faced. Boy Meets World is more than a perfect title for his debut album: it undoubtedly sets the tone for his listeners to engage in his flagrant story telling. ‘Intro’ is a track where Fashawn shows no mercy. He gets to the point as his rhymes give you a taste of what’s to come. ‘Came out the womb 88/landed on this planet, CA the sunshine state/oblivious to the problems I soon faced/ FC home of the brave the mindstate/wreckless government deciding your fate/ stick up kids hit licks dividing the cake/how I survived my youth without catching a shell/writing lyrics you can feel like brail’
Guest appearances by Blu, Evidence, and Planet Asia help paint pictures to tracks like ‘Samsonite Man’ ‘Our Way’ and ‘The Score.’ Producer Exile predominately lays the groundwork for a more than stable lyrical foundation. For Fashawn to be of young age, it is through his debut album that his listeners will be aware of his growth as he blossoms from a young boy to a man.
