Wale and UCB will be the house band at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

“This is a monumental point in my career,” Wale said in a statement. “UCB and I will be adding an extra element to the VMA’s as we bring our signature sound of go-go music to the stage.”

The DC rapper was initially tapped for the 2007 VMAs for a performance with then-house band leader Mark Ronson, after which led to Wale getting singed to Ronson’s label, Allido Records.
