Hip hop legends Run-DMC are set to be immortalized in the heart of their hometown of Queens, NY. The corner of 20th and Hollis will be renamed Run-DMC JMJ Way, honoring both the group and the late Jam Master Jay. City Council adopted the legislation on Tuesday, and councilman Leroy G. Comrie reveals his his excitement about the potential the street renaming might have for the entire Queens community.
He explains that DMC himself has donated memorabilia for a Hollis Hip Hop Museum that is currently in the works, set to open in what was previous the Hollis Famous Burger joint. Says Comrie, “It is my sincere hope that this street renaming, combined with the museum, will help to economically revitalize this particular neighborhood as a potential tourism attraction.”
