U.S.E.
L O V E W O R L D
Seattle, Washington’home of grunge and gloom. Surprisingly, this is also home to the super happy, super preppy United State of Electronica (U.S.E.). Their second album, LOVEWORLD is a collection of fun dance songs. They have an infectious energy, which seems like it would translate well live. On CD, they’re all having a party and they want you to be there with them. They’re kind of like the electronic cousins of the Polyphonic Spree with an undeniable love for the 70s. LOVEWORLD starts out with high energy catchy beats, but ends up droning on towards the end. You can only sing about peace, love, and happiness for so long before you run out of things to say, and inevitably repeat yourself. The result can feel like being stuck in a Mentos commercial. It has that kind of “let’s resolve all our problems with a simple solution” feeling.
You either get United State of Electronica or you don’t: honestly, I don’t. At the same time, I appreciate that U.S.E. invite everyone and anyone to join them in the fun. It’s good, clean, fun dance music.
