The multi-ethnic gypsy punk outfit Gogol Brodello consistantly put on performances that threaten to turn whatever venue they’re playing into the wedding scene from The Deer Hunter. Few groups deserve the live release treatment as much as Eugene Hutz and company. Just don’t trash your apartment whle rocking this CD/DVD set.
The release, Live From Axis Mundi, will feature a live performance shot in 2007 at Irving Plaza on both CD and DVD, plus unrelease raritie—”Stivali E Colbacco” from the Super Taranta! sessions, “Troubled Friends” from the Gypsy Punk sessions, “Roumania,” a demo of “60 Revolutions” and an instrumental version of “Immigrant Punk.”There’s also a handful of BBC recordings, a few music videos, and the mandatory documentary segments.
