Since 2007, the exlusive lounge of New York’s Hotel on Rivington, 105 Riv, has been presenting the GoodSpot. GoodSpot has become the monday night destination for music lovers and believers in the classic New York spirit – No holds barred, freedom, diversity, and fun. On Aug 12, 2009 GoodSpot, in association with the fashion based non-profit initiative Falling Whistles, made its Los Angeles debut at the renowned Bar Marmont (of Chateau Marmont fame) drawing a beautifully eclectic crowd & rave reviews for bringing its dynamic downtown NYC inspired flavor to the LA scene while supporting and advocating peace in Congo.
With the success of the L.A. launch bringing celebrity guests such as Jason Segal, Vanessa Williams, Eugene Byrd, Dorian Missick, Tischina Arnold, Def Jam recording Artists Electrik Red, Sa-Ra, and producer/DJ Vikter Duplaix, GoodSpot is set to be an in demand monthly event for LA tastemakers. A number of those tastemakers left the event that evening with whistles around their necks. It was a protest for peace. Taking over the upper level of Bar Marmont, amongst the party goers, was a table with pictures of African children, whistles that dangled on chains, and Sean Carasso to tell his story about the whistleblowers. It was a proud feat of GoodSpot. What began as Sean’s story, written in a journal and sent to a small circle of friends and family about our world’s largest war, has now become a campaign for peace in Congo.
